I have now completed all of the location pictures (see below). Each picture corresponds to a location on the quest map. some of the locations are based on real photos taken. Each area and characters clothing are are relevant to the time period (mid 17th Century) used in our installation.
The location pictures will be displayed on the main screen for each location of the quest.
Church - based upon St Mary's church.
I decided to make the character looking at the fire rather than the user just for a bit of variation.
Castle, not based upon a photo as the castle in now destroyed
A Royalist Musketteer - i based the uniform on a picture from the internet which was taken at a reenactment of the civil war event.
Farm - not based on a real photo - decided upon a stable and a farm house as it helps set the scene better for the user when they are introduced to the scenario in this quest location. The scenario is that the farmer is having trouble with witches stealing his horses.
Forest - Not based on real photo - there was going to be the addition of an old hut in the woods, however it became clear that too much of my time was being put into the pictures and needed to be used elsewhere, so i decided upon a simpler approach that saved time and still got a good impression of a forest across.
Lake - this picture was taken by Daniel at Peasolm park - Scarborough. The character is a local woman who was to meet the cunning man at the lake and so you are expected(shown by audio dialogue) when you arrive. she decides to give support if you beat her 'keep an eye on the box the toad is in game'. The game is also part of my work which i will be working on soon.
We decided as a group in previous meeting to keep the mix of male to female characters as 50/50 as possible. The final installation will have 3 women and 4 men.
